FYI Stir of Echoes debuted on 28 July 1999 at the Fantasy Film Festival in Germany, and The Sixth Sense Premiere opened on 2 August 1999 in Philadelphia.ĭue to the release timing of both films, I think the massive success and popularity (because of the famous twist that EVERYBODY kept/keeps on talking about) of Sixth Sense really sent Stir of Echoes into obscurity. Yes, there are some striking parallels in the movie, but the stories are worlds apart (sorry) in most respects. This isn't a rip off of Sixth Sense as some people seem to suggest. An effectively creepy thriller by Hollywood scribe David Koepp (who penned the blockbuster Jurassic Park), this film explores hypnotism and delusional horror. I remembered this very good film from around the same time as the Sixth Sense came out. Naturally, Stir of Echoes has elements of a Sixth Sense knock-off, especially when Bacon goes all cold and his breath condenses. ![]()
